Getting married should be the best experience of your life – but for Howard Steel it turns out to be the week from Hell.

The Worst Week of My Life is a comedy that follows the story of HOWARD STEEL (Ben Miller) and MEL COOK (Sarah Alexander) in the week leading up to their wedding. This is a roller-coaster journey through the bizarre and chaotic world of HOWARD, who consistently fails in his attempts to impress his future in-laws, whilst attempting to piece together a life that is constantly collapsing around him. 

The week starts badly for HOWARD when his ex-secretary delivers a bombshell at the office party, publicly revealing a past sexual indiscretion with far-reaching consequences for him.  But if Monday was bad, he could never in a million years have imagined the events which would befall him later in the week; neither could MEL’S parents. When ANGELA and DICK COOK welcomed HOWARD into their family they had no idea their future son-in-law was about to wreak havoc in their lives – not even GRANNY COOK , MEL’s sister, SOPHIE or the dearly-loved family dog are spared in one disaster after another.

And if this wasn’t bad enough, HOWARD has yet to introduce his father, RON and his all-singing, all-dancing stripper of a girlfriend, TRISH to his refined and well-to-do in-laws. To compound his misery there is also the small matter of CASSIE, HOWARD’S deranged and unbalanced ex-secretary, who will stop at nothing in her attempt to sabotage his wedding.

Series two

The second series takes place in the week leading up to the birth of Howard and Mel's first baby, and Howard has not yet shaken off the fate inexorably attached to him. During the course of the week he is accused of sexual harassment at work, and mistakenly arrested for "dogging." He also manages to toast his father-in-law's CBE on a barbecue. Despite Howard knocking out the midwife, the series ends with the birth of a baby girl, Emily.
