Killing Hitler

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
How could British agents have killed Hitler in World War II? If an operation
had been launched, would it have actually succeeded in killing the Fuhrer? Or was this really a mission impossible? In an innovative mix of fact and
dramatic reconstruction, Killing Hitler unearths the story of Operation
Foxley, the top secret plan hatched by the British in June 1944 to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Operation Foxley outlined various options for Hitler’s execution at his Berghof estate near the town of Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps. They considered blowing up his train, attacking his Mercedes- Benz limousine, or shooting him during his morning walk. Ever since the war historians have wondered what would have happened
if an agent had been sent to kill Hitler. Now for the first time on TV we’ll find out if such a plan could have worked and, crucially, discover what it really would have been like for the agents entrusted with killing the most hated man in modern history.
