QUEEN AND COUNTRY

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
A major documentary series about Queen Elizabeth II's reign explores the different aspects of her role as sovereign, head of the Commonwealth, and head of State; shedding new light on how the Queen has reacted to the swirl of change all around her. Combining interviews with leading international figures; formal and informal footage of the Queen and royal family; and previously unseen material. When she came to the throne in 1952, Winston Churchill was Prime Minister, a single television station was in its infancy, and all public entertainment was censored. Nearly 50 years later, the changes are almost unquantifiable, but the ‘one fixed point in a changing age' is the Queen.
