DOCTOR WHO

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Not so long ago, in a galaxy not so far away, the BBC aired the first episode of DOCTOR WHO. No one could imagine what was about to happen.

Not only did the series become an instant hit in Britain, but it soon became so popular in many other countries that it now boasts an estimated 100 million viewers in 54 countries around the world. It also boasts scores of active fan clubs and conventions, a phenomenon rarely experienced in television. And so, on November 23, 1963, a cult classic was born.

Doctor Who is a mysterious Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation Kasterborus. A member of an advanced race of super beings with a 60-degree body temperature, two hearts and a very long life span. An amazing race with the ability to live 13 different lives and to regenerate their bodies just when they are on the brink of death, resulting in the total replacement of body mind and actor!

Doctor Who has regenerated himself seven times since the show began, with seven different actors in the title role. And amazingly the show's audience has grown bigger and bigger with every regeneration, and every new generation of Doctor Who lovers!

In his incomparable time machine, the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space), this ageless guardian of peace travels the universe to do battle with evil forces, wherever they may be. Of course, Doctor Who's TARDIS isn't quite like those of other Time Lords. Most have a chameleon-like ability to blend themselves into any environment. But since the chameleon circuit of Doctor Who's TARDIS was broken during a trip to London, it is permanantly left in the shape or a British telephone call box.

With its rare blend of cleverly-crafted science fiction and high camp, no wonder Doctor Who is one of the longest running and most successful programs in television history.

Get ready to climb into the TARDIS and go back in time and space where it all began…
